Lape Soul Food: Authentic Soul Food Experience in Detroit

Ok, I just had fries. They were delicious and hot. My family ordered meals (meatloaf, baked chicken, collards, and mashed potatoes). They were extremely happy. My fussy aunt, who complains about almost everything, even said that it was delicious. Very nice sized portions. The young man who took our orders was very helpful with our selections. He was so professional and patient. If you have a hankering for some great soul food, make a b-line to this place.

We got the fried chicken from here. Very friendly staff and great service. The chicken was made to order, so it was very hot, juicy, and fresh. Sides were solid but the chicken was the best.

This place is amazing! My family, boyfriend and his family eat here anytime we do not feel Ike cooking and this place hits the spot every time. The food is always prepared fresh, flavorful, and delicious to the T. The people in this establishment are so warm, welcoming and generous. Depending on the face pace of the day they tend to always make you feel as if they’re talking and preparing the meals just for you. I recommend this place to everyone I know!

I must have messed around and went to the one on Warren and not 7 Mile! Bad mistake! I thought I was on the beach eating those greens. So much sand! I don't know how I ended up on Warren road but 7 Mile is the spot! If you have a taste for soul food, and you stopped celebrating these pagan holidays: this is the place for you & Mie! They need one of these in Ypsilanti today! I got one headlight right now and I'm willing to risk it all!

My first time trying here and I must say the food was very tasty , Mac and cheese was good and the yams were my favorite . Will be going back to try that rib tip

I like to come here about once a week for the lunch special. Always go with the chicken with a couple sides. Can't beat that home made cooking. They season the food to perfection and it's always super fresh!

Let me start by saying the food is good. I want to give you guys a five-star so bad! The only reason I can't is because the food is not consistent in taste. Me personally I love ordering the oxtails which are good every time I order. But the taste is different every time I get them and I don't know what it is. I'm only under the assumption that the same person doesn't cook the food every time. Once again that does not mean this food is not good. Keep in mind, it is in the hood And even though I have not had any bad experiences, I think it is best to call your order in The lobby can get a little crowded If you walk in order food and other people come in to order just like you. Also keep in mind that the parking situation isn't the best in the case that you decide to walk in and place an order versus if you called your order in you're in and out and going about your business. Now I've been going to this restaurant since 2019. I do live in the area and food wise I've had no bad experiences. The people have always been pleasant and as long as I can afford it this place will continue to get my money.
